Gli was shaking. The ritual was starting.
“Please!” Gli said. “Please, let me go! My family is dead, my friend is captured, and I’m about die without a soul! Someone, please! Have mercy!”
“Shut up,” said Scythina, “You soft biscuit. You’re only prolonging the ritual!”
No, thought Gli. This can’t be happening!
Everything else happened in a blur. Then, some purple dust clung to her. It was the worst pain anyone could imagine. First, in felt like she was dropped in acid, then her eyeballs were being pulled out with needles. Then, she felt super hot, as if she was in lava, and then as if someone was shoving her innards out her eyes and mouth. But instead of innards coming out, it was her blue soul. Luckily, the pain had stopped.
Then, when she (oddly) could see everything through her soul. Purple dust was clumped around it. But right as it was about to go into Scythina’s pendent, there were claws cupped around it. And then the pain went back, and then Gli felt normal after a few seconds.
“NOOO!” screamed Scythina.
Gli felt weak for a few moments. “Th-that’s right,” she croaked, “because you’re a c-crazy creep who is h-heartless.”
Suddenly, Scythina’s eyes because red.
“WHO HAS STOPPED MY RITUAL?” said a voice with Scythina’s mouth but wasn’t her voice. “I WAS STEALING A SOUL, BUT SOMEONE STOPPED IT. WHO? YOU MUST PREPARE TO DIE!”
“I did!” rasped a lightning dragon. Gli turned her head to look at her. “My name is Kaisha, and I will always do what is right, even if it means my death.”
“NO!” shouted Teriefula from the crowd. “Kaisha, no! Crazy evil power thing, it was ME! I stopped you! Now finish the ritual and then kill me!”
“FOOLISH THING,” chuckled Scythina-but-not-Scythina. “I AM THE GREAT SHADOOM TOKU, AND I HAVE POSSESSED THIS DRAGON. I CANNOT CONTINUE THE RITUAL BECAUSE SOMEONE STOLE MY POWDER SOURCE (AND I NEVER CAN AGAIN), WHICH WAS THE POWDER. PREPARE FOR DEATH, KAISHA!”
“Then kill me, Shadoom Toku!” yelled Kaisha with honor. “I have stopped you from stealing any more souls!”
Shadoom Toku left Scythina alone. Gli could tell because color came back to her eyes. Suddenly, shadows circled around the pendent on her neck. The pendent broke, and the charm part was on the ground. Suddenly, there was a huge shadow monster.
“HAHAHA! I STILL HAVE THE ABILITY TO STEAL SOULS, BUT CANNOT TRANSFORM IN INTO ENERGY. I HOPE YOU LIKE SOULLESS DEATH, KAISHA!”
“Then I shall die soulless!” Shadoom Toku was reaching it’s arm toward Kaisha.
But Gli had broken the cage. She pulled Kaisha away. “Can you fly?” she asked.
“Yes,” rasped Kaisha.
“Then hurry and follow me!”
Eventually, they escaped to Frisa’s home.
“Open up, Frisa!” screamed Gli. “Let us in! Please!”
Frisa opened the door.
“Hurry, come in!” she said.
